Ozamiz City- Mayor Reynaldo “Aldong” Parojinog, Sr., has back after relaxing for three years, succeeding his daughter-predecessor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez who is now serving as the City Vice-Mayor .
Mayor Aldong and Vice-Mayor Nova, had defeated their opponents in May 13, 2013 election the Liberal Party candidates in an overwhelming margin resulting to a 20-0 victory for the Team Aldong.
The 20-0 election result in Ozamiz City has sent Atty. Henry S. Oaminal to congress giving a shocking defeat to the former congressman of the second district of Misamis Occidental Loreto Leo Ocampos with unbelievable margin for a sitting popular congressman of 33,000 votes , of which Ozamiz gave Congressman Oaminal 18,221 , 37,696 for Congressman Oaminal, while Ocampos got 19,475 votes only for Ozamiz City result.
Mayor Parojinog defeated his opponent with a huge margin of 28,248 votes or 42,256 over Rolando Romero’s 14,008 votes while Vice-Mayor Nova has made the history in politics of Ozamiz City, from a Mayor in 2010 election she won in 2013 of 39,332 votes against her opponent Georgina Ocampos, the wife of the losing congressional candidate Leo Ocampos with 13,844 votes or a margin of 25,488 votes.
Aside from the father-daughter tandem, Ozamiznons expressed their gratefulness to the Parojinogs for their good stewardship by putting Octavio Parojinog, Jr. , the youngest of the Parojinog brothers , number one among the Ten regular members of the City council.
Vice-Mayor Nova in her three years term of office as Mayor has made a lot of significant changes and imposed many development starting from the internal system at the City Hall including the fiscal management, harnessing the manpower resources to have a reinvigorated workforce in the City, to meet the services due to the clientele-tax payers.
Vice-Mayor Nova has entered into public service at the age of 19 as Youth leader. She won as number one City Councilor in 2007-2010. At the age of 27 she became the first lady Mayor , the youngest Mayor in Misamis Occidental and the second youngest in the entire Philippines.
Mayor Aldong on the otherhand, made his own history as the first City Mayor of Ozamiz who has completed his 9-year term of office 2001-2010 and successfully get the position back for the second round in May 13, 2013 election.
The Ozamiz City elected officials led by Mayor Aldong had took their oath of office Friday morning, at the Pasundayag Stage inside Fuerte de la Concepcion y del Triunfo on June 28, with Senator Aquilino Martin “Koko” Pimentel 111 as the administering officer.
Before the oath taking ceremony, a thanks giving mass officiated by the Assistant Parish Priest of the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral Father Marvin Osmena was held at the Shrine of the Miraculous Berhin sa Cotta, Our Lady of Triumph of the Cross.
Both Mayor Aldong and Vice-Mayor Nova had started their first day of office by attending the flag raising ceremony where the turnover of the symbolic key was done witnessed by the Local Government Unit employees and the complete attendance of the newly elected and the reelected City Council members.
