Ground Breaking- PCSupt. Lyndel A. Desquitado holds the shovel while Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez waits for her turn to shovel during the ground breaking ceremony of the Ozamiz PNP building located adjacent to the legislative building.

The Police force of Ozamiz will soon rise its own building located besides the Senador Jose Ozamiz Memorial Building (ABC Hall) with an initial appropriation of P5-M from the Police Thrust Fund.

Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez led the ground breaking and the newly promoted one star PNP General Lyndel A. Desquitado , the Deputy Regional Director for Administration PRO-10 was gracing the historical event together with the Acting Provincial Director Senior Superintendent Raul Benitez .

The entire Ozamiz City Police Force headed by Chief of Police Supt. Jonas T. Amparo was witnessing the ground breaking activity.
Mayor Nova said, the construction of this project, Ozamiz PNP would boost its morale as law enforcer and as a front liner in the fight against all forms of criminalities.

The Local Government Unit has been identifying the site for the PNP building in 2010. As a matter of fact ground breaking has been made which was attended by the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo.

“ The construction was delayed due to the revision of plans particularly the land area from 400 square meters to 600 square meters,” Mayor Nova has pointed out.

PCSupt. Desquitado said it is sentimental for him being the former PNP Provincial Director of Misamis Occidental who was relieved by then Governor Leo Ocampos, after Ten years and right after just being promoted in the rank of general he came back to the place to grace the occasion of ground breaking the Ozamiz PNP building.

“ It is indeed nostalgic for me to at least made my first official visit as a new star officer and fulfilling of what I have long time ago dreaming of. Ten years ago I was here as a provincial director 2002-2003; 2004 and 2005. I have already seen how narrow the space for Ozamiz City Police personnel due to the fact that they are only sharing with the City Hall building , and inspite of that they were still able to provide services and perform their duties as police officials as expected, “ PCSupt. Desquitado said.

PCSupt. Desquitado added that the ground breaking was timely for it is done before the election period or election ban. As chairman of the bids and award committee , PCSupt. Desquitado is pushing hard for the Ozamiz City Police Building.

The Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce President Pershing Tan Queto Jr, and Ozamiz City Chamber officials headed by former Vice-Mayor Elvira Tan were also present during the occasion.

Ozamiz PNP and Joint Task Force Panguil in a walk for a Secure and Fair Election 2013 campaign from OSROX Park all the way to Fuerte de la Concepcion y Del Triunfo in the early morning of Saturday , January 12, 2013.

Ozamiz City- There were nearly One Thousand peace crusaders  from the   different religious organization, Civil Society Organization,  Peoples Organization,  private  individuals and students   strongly supporting  the  Secure and Fair Election   (S.A.F.E) campaign by the Philippine National Police   by participating in a  candle  walk  Saturday , January  12, 2013  at  5:00 o’clock  in the morning from the OSROX Park to  the Pasundayag State inside Fuerte dela Concepcion  y del Triunfo.

The crusaders  were  bringing  lighted candles and  their respective banners, streamers and  different  placards .

The S.A.F.E 2013 advocates  were  composed of mothers  who  were   bringing  with them their   kids , criminology students from La Salle University and Misamis University, student from Sharing Computer Access Locally and Abroad  (SCALA)  and  Ozamiz City Youth Information Communication Technology Training Center,  PAG-ASA Youth Home, GITIB, INC. the CIS, KARANCHU and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)  of Misamis Occidental headed by  PSInsp  Danilo Balmes, the Joint Task Force Panguil, and the Provincial PNP headed by the Provincial Director  P/Supt Dennis Basnge.

The streamer brought  by the  Joint Task Force Panguil  has called  the  everyone’s attention. It says ” We Love Ozamiz”

The event was  organized by  P/Supt. Jonas T. Amparo, the chief of Police of Ozamiz City Police station which was personally supervised by  PSSupt David Umbao, the Assistant  Regional Director for operation of PRO-10.

After the walk, the symbolic signing of support  for  S.A.F.E  2013   was  made by the peace crusaders into a  streamer  bearing  the words ”  Pagpakabana Para Sa Kalinaw: Duyog ang  Katawhang Ozamiznon, Alang sa Tinuod,Hapsay og Patas nga Election 2013″ .

A short program  has followed which was started with an ecumenical prayer from Alimatar Ali of  Islam, Reverend  James Cagaanan of Assembly of God, Pastor Giovan Pelayo of Eternal Life Church Ministries of the Philippines, Pastor David Cabugon of  Happy  Church  and  Pastor Lito Ocate from  Freedom in Christ Fellowship.

The prayers were said in various ways  however  it contains the same  meaning and objectives  which coincide with the ultimate goal of the Philippine National Police  of having  secure and fair election not for the  politicians to win but for the genuine voice of the people to be heard.

According to ARDO Umbao   Ozamiz City is a very  peaceful place and  every peace loving Ozamiznon  is called to sustain this tranquility. He said  he has been in Ozamiz City since  the first day of December  last year  and he  observed  and he saw  how  peaceful  the City is.  The  director  has given the emphasis on the streamer of Joint Task Force Panguil  saying  ” We Love Ozamiz”

” Mula sa pagdating ko rito ako ay nag-observed since December first,  nakita ko na napaka-peaceful ng ating bayan, dito sa City of Ozamiz . Sana po i-sustain natin ang momentum ng katahimikan at kaayusan ng ating City. There is only one.  Kaya kung nakita ninyo sa Task Force Panguil ng Tarpauline nila ” We Love Ozamiz” , let us love Ozamiz. Kasi kung hindi natin love and Ozamiz, guguluhin natin ang Ozamiz, di  ba?! ” ARDO  Umbao  stressed out.

In his message  Supt. Umbao  emphasized love  for  Ozamiz City saying  if  people love Ozamiz, ” firstly we want it  image be cleaned    ; secondly we  want  peaceful and orderly life and  most importantly  we want  love and peace   to start within our own family first”.

PSupt.  Cayetano F. Albarico, the deputy provincial director in his message in behalf of the Provincial Director Supt. Dennis Basnge has clarified the laws  on  securing the lives of the  candidates for the May 13, 2013 elections  as mandated by the Premier on Security Detail for Candidates.

The S.A.F.E  program was  culminated by  releasing of  the white balloons jointly done by  the PNP and  the different leaders of peace crusader-groups.

According to police record the peace and order condition  of Ozamiz  is  normal. It is only disturbed by  bad publicities fabricated by the  political opponents of  Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez and  ABC President Reynaldo Parojinog, Sr.  (ESP-PIO-Ozamiz City)

The Nine Thousand Eight Hundred Sixty Eight Philhealth card paid for the indigent –beneficiaries by the Local Government Unit of Ozamiz headed by Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez will continuously in effect and insured the hospitalization benefits set forth by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC).

The National Household Targeting System (NHTS) has divulged that presently Ozamiz has 37.6% poverty incidence out of the nearly 165,000 total population today. The record shown that it is 4-percent lower compared to the poverty incidence in the early part of the year 2000.
Out of the household survey conducted by the City Social Welfare and Development these 9,868 is closed to the percentage of the poverty incidence mentioned in the data gathered during the NHTS survey.

This number has been enrolled to Philhealth since January 2011 and its validity will be upto December of 2013.

In 2010, the LGU has enrolled to Philhealth nearly Twelve Thousand indigents but it dramatically reduced after the national government has given automatic health insurance benefits some of those Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino (4P’s) beneficiaries.
On the part of the Local Government Unit of Ozamiz , aside from the Philhealth ‘s hospitalization benefits received by the ensured member inlcuding all of his/her dependents Mayor Nova and Liga ng mga Barangay President Reynaldo “Aldong” Ozamiz Parojinog, Sr., are at all times very accessible by the constituents- in -need specially on matters regarding the excess of hospital bills.

Much to the Lady Mayor’s desire of speeding up the programs which suppose to bring an improved economic condition for those who are living economically miserable like the approval of the reclaimation projects and the coming of outside-billion investments such as Malls and Real Estates but all of these has been delayed due to the unfavorable political climate in the province and in the second district in particular.

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental, Dec. 20 (PIA) – The Stonefield Football Team from Ozamiz City was declared champion in the Men’s Open Category, during the 1st Pas Ungko S’g Misamis Occidental Footfall Festival, held here, recently.

The DMC Football Team from Dipolog City, was 1st runner-up, while the Go Hermie Football Team from the province was 2nd runner-up, in the same category.

It was learned that various football teams from other provinces and town of Misamis Occidental participated in the games, which was among the activities lined-up for the celebration of the 83rd founding anniversary of the province that coincided with the 3rd Pas Ungko S’g Misamis Occidental Festival.

These football teams came from Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City, Pagadian City, Dipolog City, Ozamiz City, Tangub City and the towns of Plaridel, Baliangao, Calamba and Clarin, including the team from the Philippine Amry and Go Hermie Football Team of the Misamis Occidental Provincial Government.

Meanwhile, four (4) other categories were included in the games, namely: 17 Under Category, 15 Under Category, 13 Under Category and 12 Under Category.

Meanwhile, the Plaridel Football Team was declared champion in the 17 Under Category with the Kidchester Football Team from Pagadian City, 1st runner-up and the Go Hermie Football Team, 2nd runner-up.

Winners in the other categories included the following: 15 Under Category, Kidchester Football Team, champion, Erubo Football Team from Tangub City, 1st runner-up and Go Hermie Football Team, 2nd runner-up.
